Chertsey is an historic town set on the River Thames to the south west of the capital, and regularly features in lists of the UK’s most desirable places to live. The town centre boasts a wide range of historic, listed buildings, and is the venue for a regular market on Saturdays based on Windsor Street.
Chertsey is a great location for fitness and sports enthusiasts, with a wide range of sports and leisure clubs in and around the town. These include the River Bourne Club, which has a 25 metre swimming pool, a gym, and three studios offering over 70 classes per week. The town also has a popular women-only gym –Curves– which offers classes in Zumba as well as circuit training. Slightly further afield is the renowned Thorpe Park theme park, one of the UK’s most popular attractions located between Chertsey and Staines.
The great outdoors is available at Homewood Park, a 23 hectare park designed to reflect the grounds of Botley Manor, the late 18th Century Grade II-listed mansion at its heart. The park offers a great place to relax, with a lake, mature woodland and various cycle routes and nature trails.
Chertsey also has a great range of schools, and is close to other notable attractions including Legoland and, of course, historic Windsor and its castle.
